Cookies Policy

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Modern web apps also use browser storage such as localStorage and IndexedDB for the same purposes. Mobile apps do not use browser cookies, but store similar information in secure on-device storage. We refer to all of these as "cookies" in this policy.

We use cookies to:

• Keep you signed in between visits.
• Remember your preferences, such as light or dark mode.
• Understand how the website and app are used so we can improve them.
• Keep the service secure and prevent abuse.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not sell information collected through cookies.

• Essential: required for Max & Me to work. On the web, Firebase Authentication stores your sign-in session in IndexedDB or localStorage, and Firestore may cache data you have loaded so the app works offline. In the mobile app, your session is kept in secure device storage.
• Preferences: remember settings such as your chosen theme and which view you last used.
• Analytics: on the website we may use Firebase Analytics to measure page views and feature usage in aggregate. Map tiles are provided by Mapbox, which collects anonymous usage statistics about map interactions to improve its service.
• Error reporting: Sentry stores a short-lived identifier so that related crash reports can be grouped together.

You can clear or block cookies and site data through your browser settings, and clear app data through your device settings. If you block essential cookies you will be signed out and some features will not work. Signing out of Max & Me removes your session data from the device.

We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top.
